THREE SIXTY PRODUCTS

Three Sixty AC Motor Ceiling Fans

Three Sixty AC ceiling fans are renowned for their reliability and affordability, offering efficient cooling at a reasonable price. These fans are equipped with AC motors that directly connect to the household power supply, functioning similarly to other common household appliances. AC motors have a long-standing history of use and are recognized for their simplicity, resulting in a minimal failure rate. If any issues arise with an AC motor ceiling fan, they typically pertain to components other than the motor itself. While AC motor-based ceiling fans are initially less expensive to purchase, they generally exhibit lower energy efficiency compared to DC alternatives. Most of these fans come with a standard 3-speed wall switch, and optional remote controls can be provided as convenient accessories. Explore the latest collection of Three Sixty AC ceiling fans to enjoy powerful and consistent cooling throughout the year.

Three Sixty DC Motor Ceiling Fans

Discover the latest innovations in Three Sixty DC ceiling fans, designed to offer exceptional airflow and remarkable energy efficiency. These ceiling fans ensure quiet operation, utilizing high-quality polymer blades for efficient and noise-free air delivery, all while consuming up to 50% less power than standard AC ceiling fans. Similar to AC motor-based fans, those equipped with DC motors directly connect to the household electrical supply, albeit through a DC motor controller. This additional device regulates the power delivered to the motor's coils using pulse modulation, enabling intermittent energy pulses instead of continuous motor operation. This pulsating mechanism leads to reduced energy consumption when compared to AC-style motors. All Three Sixty DC ceiling fans come with a standard remote control and cannot be controlled using a wall switch. Explore the latest selection of DC ceiling fans and indulge in powerful cooling while enjoying reduced energy usage.

FAQ

WHAT IS A CEILING FAN EXTENSION ROD?

A ceiling fan extension rod, also known as a downrod, is a crucial accessory used to adjust the hanging height of a ceiling fan from the ceiling. It is a metal rod that connects the fan's motor housing to the ceiling mount or canopy, allowing the fan to be positioned at an optimal distance from the ceiling surface. Extension rods come in various lengths and finishes to accommodate different ceiling heights and interior aesthetics.

By using a ceiling fan extension rod, you can customize the height of the fan to achieve proper air circulation and create an ideal airflow in your living space. This is particularly useful in rooms with high ceilings, where installing the fan too close to the ceiling might hinder its performance. Extension rods enable you to maximize the effectiveness of your ceiling fan while maintaining a comfortable and well-ventilated environment.

DO I REQUIRE AN EXTENSION ROD FOR MY CEILING FAN INSTALLATION?

Step 1: Assess Your Ceiling Height

Most Australian homes feature a standard ceiling height of 2400mm. To adhere to Australian standards, there should be a minimum distance of 2100mm from the floor to the lowest point of the ceiling fan. This is why many ceiling fans are designed for optimal airflow at this height. If your home has a ceiling higher than the standard 2400mm, you might want to consider installing a downrod. This will help ensure the best possible airflow.

Step 2: Evaluate the Total Height of the Ceiling Fan

Always check the total height of the ceiling fan you're interested in purchasing. This measurement accounts for the space between the lowest part of the fan blades and the top of the fan canopy.

Step 3: Consider the Pitch or Angle of Your Ceiling

Pitched or angled ceilings can create situations where a downrod is beneficial. Depending on the angle of the ceiling, a fan hung too closely may come into contact with the slope. A downrod can address this issue by lowering the placement of the ceiling fan.

An important note: Always confirm that your ceiling fan's canopy is equipped with the appropriate mechanism to facilitate movement and allow the downrod to hang correctly on an angled ceiling.

Step 4: Calculate the Available Clearance

Once you have the measurements for your ceiling height and the ceiling fan's height, you can determine the available space for hanging the fan.

For example, if your ceiling height is 2800mm, the height of the fan is 300mm, and the minimum floor-to-ceiling fan height is 2100mm, then you have 400mm of available space. In this case, you may want to think about installing a downrod to lower the ceiling fan's placement and ensure optimal airflow.

CAN I CUT AN EXTENSION ROD TO A CUSTOM LENGTH?

Extension rods are typically available in two different sizes: 900mm and 1800mm. Your electrician can customize your chosen measurement to the appropriate length. It's crucial to carefully select a colour that matches your chosen fan and is compatible with the ceiling fan brand for proper alignment.

CAN I USE AN EXTENSION ROD WITH A SLOPED CEILING?

Mounting a ceiling fan with an extension rod on a sloped ceiling is more intricate than on a flat ceiling. It requires extra hardware and adjustments for stability and balance. You'll also need a sloped ceiling fan kit, which replaces the canopy, hanger bracket, and hanger ball. Our ThreeSixty Sloped Ceiling Fan Kit 35° is designed for ThreeSixty AC fans with a 26mm downrod and is suitable for slopes of up to 35°. Please note that the Sloped Ceiling Kit does not include a downrod; this must be purchased separately along with the sloped ceiling fan kit for a complete installation.
