OPA! Welcome to Eagle Street, hosting a little bit of Greece and a lot of class. Opa have moved into what was previously known as Jellyfish, a seafood restaurant whose fitout adopted more of a plain black and white dated look. As you can see, the shopfitters and designers have transformed this space into something truly amazing. From the indoor greenery installs to the pops of pink stone feature walls, to the lush private seating areas where light emerges from floor to couch backings to ceiling.

This fitout is transformed by the lighting, truly. The custom brass pendants which arch from the booths, the strips of light which line each step – each bench top – each seating area, the track lights which line the booths and light the main dining area, and of course, the custom arch pendants which hover above the main bar: the lighting for this fitout take Opa to that next level. 

We used premium Lampada Premio anti-glare downlights fitted with a DALI driver (This means the restaurant can control every single light individually or as a whole by logging into their system). The lighting at Opa has been set to 3000k; a warm white tone, which helps offset the brightness of the white walls with warm tones to match the pink warm tone stone which features a lot in this fitout.

As mentioned above, the downlights are controlled by a DYNALITE system (DALI). The custom wall lights and pendants, strip lighting and track all run off the same system. This kind of interactive lighting can be set to schedules such as ‘on’ at time of open – ‘dim’ at certain times – and ‘off’ at time of close. Opa can also change depending on the weather; dark stormy skies need warm, brighter lights! This is a hardwired version of smart lighting that you may already have in your home, which makes it far more reliable than a retrofitted smart product and is used mostly for commercial purposes.
