Description

The Cobra 24 is a high-output 24V DC SMD LED strip light using San'an diodes for dot-free, linear illumination, with CRI95+ colour accuracy and SDCM <3 colour consistency. It runs at 24W per metre for around double the light output of our Cobra 15 strip (3,050–3,120 lm/m versus 1,450–1,500 lm/m), with a 120° beam angle, and is dimmable. It cuts every 25mm, giving a run up to 10m with single-end power, or longer with dual-end power. It's available in five colour temperatures — 2100K Super Warm White, 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 6000K.

This strip requires a separate 24V DC LED driver, such as the Elettrica II 24V DC Slimline LED Driver, and must be installed on an aluminium profile such as the Shallow Square Bendable Aluminium Profile — running it without one voids the 5 year warranty. If you don't need the extra output, the Cobra 15 SCOB Strip Light is our lower-wattage option.

What is an LED driver?

An LED driver converts mains electricity into a stable low-voltage DC power required by compatible lighting products. A driver is needed whenever a product requires an external DC power supply; usually location in areas with full weather exposure.

Common low-voltage products include spike lights, bollards, LED strip lighting and low-voltage wall lights. Always check the individual product specifications, as not every product within these categories requires an external driver.

The driver’s output voltage must match the product’s required voltage (eg. 12V DC), and its wattage must be sufficient for the total connected load. The calculator below recommends a suitable 12V or 24V driver and includes the required safety margin.

Do I need to buy anything else with this strip light?

Yes — you'll need a separate 24V DC constant voltage LED driver sized to your total run length, such as the Elettrica II 24V DC Slimline LED Driver, and an aluminium profile to install the strip into.

Do I have to install this strip on an aluminium profile?

Yes — the 5 year warranty only applies when the strip is installed on an aluminium profile. At 24W/m this strip runs hotter than lower-wattage strips, so running it unmounted will shorten the life of the LEDs significantly.

Can I use this outdoors, or run more than 10 metres from one power point?

This strip has an IP20 rating, so it's for indoor, dry locations only. For runs longer than 10m, power the strip from both ends (dual-end power) rather than exceeding the single-end run length — this avoids voltage drop and dimming along the strip.
