Do not assume that every heater is suitable for every outdoor location. Check the product’s specified IP rating, approved installation areas and manufacturer instructions before purchasing. Fixed electric heaters should be installed by a suitably qualified professional where required.

Outdoor heater safety and clearances

Outdoor heaters can reach high temperatures, so correct placement is essential. Check the required mounting height and clearance from ceilings, walls, furniture, awnings, curtains and other materials that may be affected by heat.

Heaters should also be positioned away from children, pets and busy walkways. Look for appropriate safety features, such as protective guards and thermal cut-off protection, and never cover a heater or place objects directly in front of its heating element.
