Choosing the correct size is essential for both functionality and visual balance when selecting linear pendant lights. 

As a general guide, a linear pendant should span around two-thirds to three-quarters of the length of the surface below it, such as a kitchen island or dining table. This proportion ensures adequate illumination without overwhelming the space. 

Ceiling height and hanging clearance are also important considerations. The pendant should hang low enough to provide effective light, but high enough to avoid glare or obstruction. In larger rooms or spaces with higher ceilings, longer or more substantial linear pendant lights can be used to create a bold statement.
