Fixed LED Downlights

Fixed LED downlights are stationary lighting fixtures that emit light in a set downward direction with no adjustable tilt or movement. The spread of light is determined by the beam angle of the LED inside the fitting.

They’re a great option for general-purpose lighting, helping create consistent and even illumination across a room. Because they are fixed in place, they cannot be repositioned once installed.

Yes — fixed LED downlights can be installed in damp or wet areas as long as you choose a model with an appropriate IP rating (Ingress Protection rating).

For moisture-prone spaces, it’s recommended to select downlights rated:

• IP54 (splash resistant / damp areas)
• IP65 (water resistant / common bathroom rating)
• IP67 (higher protection for harsher wet conditions)

Higher IP ratings mean better sealing against dust and moisture.

Yes — fixed LED downlights are widely considered a safer option than halogen downlights.

Halogen downlights generate extremely high heat, and this heat (including the heat from transformers) can increase fire risks if near flammable materials like insulation, dust, or paper—especially if the fittings are not installed correctly.

LED downlights produce significantly less heat, which reduces:

• burn risk
• fire hazards
• heat buildup in the ceiling cavity

Upgrading from halogen to LED downlights is strongly recommended for improved safety, long-term reliability, and energy efficiency.
